Senior Hardware Systems Engineer ($120K-$140K)

About the Role
Phase3D is seeking a Senior Hardware Systems Engineer to lead the design, development, validation, compliance, and production release of advanced hardware products used in additive manufacturing environments. This role owns hardware development from concept through deployment and combines electrical engineering, systems integration, compliance, manufacturing support, troubleshooting, and technical project leadership.
This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving difficult technical problems, taking ownership of product outcomes, and working across disciplines to deliver reliable industrial products. You will serve as the technical owner for assigned product development and enhancement projects, driving schedules, mitigating technical risk, and ensuring successful delivery.
What You'll Do
· Define and maintain electrical and system-level architectures in sensor electronic products.
· Design, review, and troubleshoot electrical products, PCB assemblies, and supporting documentation
· Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions for field, production, and development issues
· Own technical execution and delivery schedules for new product development and internal enhancement projects
· Drive design transfer activities into manufacturing, including validation builds, production readiness reviews, and issue resolution
· Lead CE, EMC, and regulatory readiness activities in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
· Develop verification plans, validation protocols, design documentation, and technical records
· Work directly with suppliers and contract manufacturers to support product development and production
· Support component qualification, sourcing, lifecycle management, and supply chain risk mitigation activities
· Create and modify mechanical enclosures, mounting features, and electro-mechanical integrations using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software
· Support prototype builds, customer deployments, and manufacturing scale-up activities
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline
· 5+ years of experience in product development, electrical engineering, systems engineering
· Experience with PCB design, schematic capture, prototype bring-up, and hardware debugging
· Experience with Altium Designer, KiCad, OrCAD, or equivalent ECAD tools
· Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
· Experience supporting products through prototype, validation, and production release
· Working proficiency with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD software, including enclosure design and electro-mechanical integration
· Experience managing technical tasks, priorities, and project schedules
· Demonstrated ability to independently solve complex technical problems with limited direction
· Experience supporting CE, EMC, FCC, UL, or other compliance and certification efforts
· Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with embedded systems and hardware/software integration
· Industrial automation, additive manufacturing, robotics, aerospace, or medical device experience
· Experience working with contract manufacturers and suppliers
· Experience with risk management methodologies including FMEA
· Python, C/C++, or scripting experience
· Familiarity with Linux-based systems and edge computing devices
