Phillips Federal will serve as Phase3D’s exclusive Channel Partner for the North American defense market

HARRISBURG, Pa., August 25, 2026 - Phase3D and Phillips Federal today announced a partnership that will make Phase3D’s advanced manufacturing inspection technology more accessible to defense organizations across North America. Under the agreement, Phillips Federal will serve as Phase3D’s exclusive Channel Partner for the North American defense market.

Phillips Federal has worked with the federal government for more than 60 years and supports manufacturing programs through equipment sales, contracting, project management, training, service, and lifecycle support. The partnership gives defense customers a familiar route to evaluate and purchase Phase3D technology, backed by a team that understands advanced manufacturing and the requirements of federal facilities.

Phase3D develops in-situ inspection technology that detects defects in real time throughout the manufacturing process. By identifying problems as they occur rather than after a build is complete, Phase3D helps manufacturers avoid wasted material and machine time, increase throughput, and reduce the overall cost of manufacturing.

“Phase3D has had good early success in defense, but there is a limit to how many organizations a company our size can reach and support on its own,” said Michael Brennen, Commercial Director at Phase3D. “Phillips has the relationships, manufacturing experience, and team to help us do that at a much larger scale. For customers, it means there is now a trusted defense partner they already know who can bring Phase3D inspection technology into more depots, bases, laboratories, and manufacturing programs. The end goal is simple: catch defects sooner, waste less machine time and material, and get more usable parts through the same equipment.”

The partnership builds on Phase3D’s existing defense work, including systems deployed with the U.S. Navy’s Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence in Danville, Virginia, and the Commonwealth Center for Advanced Manufacturing. The Phillips Federal relationship will allow Phase3D to extend that work across more defense organizations and manufacturing locations.

“Our defense customers are looking for practical ways to increase manufacturing capacity and get critical parts into production faster,” said Tim McClanahan, President of Phillips Federal. “Real-time inspection gives them greater visibility into the manufacturing process and the ability to catch defects before they consume additional machine time and material. Adding Phase3D to our portfolio gives the organizations we support another tool to improve throughput, reduce manufacturing costs, and strengthen their ability to produce parts where and when they are needed.”

The announcement comes as the defense industrial base works to address supplier constraints, long lead times, and difficult-to-source parts. Advanced manufacturing can give the services more options for producing parts closer to where they are needed. Quantitative inspection helps make that production more practical by detecting defects earlier, reducing the time and material lost to failed builds, and allowing manufacturing equipment to spend more time producing usable parts.

Both teams will be onsite for J-DAMMIT 2026 at Harrisburg University, August 25–27. Phillips Federal is exhibiting, and attendees can meet the Phase3D and Phillips teams at the Phillips exhibit to learn more about the partnership. The teams are also discussing an onsite demonstration, with details to follow if confirmed.
